Expedition Itinerary

About the Itinerary

The ship- and land-based journey will explore the eastern Canadian Arctic and western Greenland. Every day on land and aboard our ice-strengthened expedition vessel will be different. Our approach to expedition learning weaves together exciting shore landings, interpretive hikes, community visits, Zodiac cruises, and exploration.

Because of icy conditions, the itinerary has been updated as of July 22. Flexibility is the key!

 

July 14

Ottawa, Canada: Our team of students, chaperones, educators and other expedition staff will assemble in Ottawa for 3 days of pre-expedition activities. Accommodation at Carleton University Prescott House. 

July 17

7:00 AM departure for Kangerlussuaq, Greenland on First Air Charter.
Arrival at 12:50 PM local time. Begin transfer to ship. Depart northwards towards the Greenlandic towns of Sisimiut, Aasiaat, Ilulissat and Uummannaq. 

July 18

Itilleq and fjord (community visit and hike)

 

July 20

Ummannaq or Qeqertarsuaq (community visit and hike)

July 21

Day at sea crossing Davis Strait to Baffin Island

July 22

Day at sea crossing Davis Strait arriving in Pangnirtung

July 23

Visit to Kekerten Island and the community of Pangnirtung

July 24

Auyuittuq National Park

July 25

Monumental Island

July 26

Lady Franklin Island

July 27

Iqaluit.

Ottawa: Welcome Back Event at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Accommodation at Carleton University Prescott House.
