Iqaluit and Ottawa:
Afternoon update!
Good afternoon! Under rainy skies, our team dropped anchor in Iqaluit this morning, and began preparing to say goodbye to the crew and officers of the Lyubov Orlova -- their floating home for the past two weeks.
They spent the morning visiting the local museum and visitor centre. After some free time to ... you guessed it... SHOP! It was off to Iqaluit Square for a farewell barbeque hosted by the Iqaluit Volunteer Firefighters. Most befitting, it was the Hon. Ann Hanson, who welcomed the group to Iqaluit on August 4th, and provided so much knowledge, wisdom and love during the expedition as a team educator, that she have the final word to bid our team farewell at the end of the barbeque. Then it was off to the airport!
They are scheduled to arrive in Ottawa at 4:50 pm (EST) - where they will be greeted by many friends, family and supporters (and more buses and luggage trucks!)
Tonight, the team will have a farewell supper at Carleton University - but most of the evening will be given to the students to say goodbye to one another and to the education staff.
Be sure to check back tonight, tomorrow and over the next few days for post-expedition website updates. There will be many more photos and videos posted.
Stay Tuned for Further Updates!
