How do I sign up?
The first step is to fill out an application form. We are looking for students from around the world who have a passion for, and interest in Antarctica/ Arctic, adventure, education and the environment. Students must be 14-19 years old and enrolled in high school (or home-schooled) at the time of the expedition. *We also have a number of positions available for University students. To receive an application form contact our office, or download a form from this site. Complete the application form and email, mail or fax it to us.

EXPEDITION COST
From Ottawa or Boston - $5,900 USD/$6,900 CDN From Reykjavik/return from Ottawa - $4,900 USD
Includes:
- round-trip airfare from selected gateway cities
- hotels and transfers
- travel escorts from gateway cities to the vessel and back again
- shipboard expedition to Antarctica or the Arctic
- all meals and accommodation
- shipboard educational program and lectures
- all field excursions
- port fees
- pre-expedition curriculum and pre-departure package
The cost does not include:
- airfare to the gateway cities
- clothing requirements
- laundry charges
- personal travel insurance
- any excess baggage charges and airport taxes
- spending money for souvenirs, etc.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Eligibility
Students from any country in the world, who will be 14-19 years old at the time of the expedition.
Students who are enrolled in high school (or home-schooled) at the time of the expedition.
Students who have a passion for, and interest in, Antarctica/ Arctic, adventure, education, and the environment.
Successful applicants must agree to a mandatory education and research activity program prior to and during the expedition.
Application Process
Submit a completed application form. Please complete online or mail/ fax to the Students on Ice office.
The Students on Ice selection committee will be meeting regularly to review submitted applications. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance within two weeks after receipt of your application.
Payment Plan
For all the expeditions there is a reasonable payment plan. Please contact our office for payment arrangements.

Ask us about tax-receipt opportunities.
Cancellation
All payments received 120 days or more prior to the departure date are refundable, less an administration fee.
When cancellations are received within 119 days of the departure date, payments are not refundable.
An administrative fee of $250 is charged on all cancellations.
Although not mandatory to participate, purchasing cancellation insurance is advised.
Travel Documents
A current passport - valid for at least 6 months after the expedition.
Insurance
Personal travel medical insurance is mandatory to participate.
Students on Ice Inc., the organizer of the expeditions, is fully insured.
Health
General medical forms will be provided with the Expedition Handbook once you are accepted. These forms must be completed and returned to the Students on Ice office.
Liability Release
A standard liability release form will be provided with the Expedition Handbook once you are accepted. This form must be signed by both student and parent(s) and returned to the Students on Ice office.
Accommodations
Cabin assignments on our expedition vessels are allocated to students and staff by the Students on Ice office.
